God’s Design; part 1

Last Saturday I again saw God’s hand in the details of life. My husband and I attended the retirement dinner for one of the associate pastors at our church. We were seated at a table with several other pastors who had a part in the afternoon program. One of the pastors at our table was the pastor who had officiated at the wedding for the pastor who was retiring. Not only did he officiate, he sang a solo. Now this pastor is 85 years old, and he treated all in attendance to a beautiful solo. It was definitely one of the highlights of the day.
Now, this is where the story gets even more interesting. After he was done singing and came back to the table, my husband told all of us that he had heard a CD recording of this same pastor earlier that day. This pastor had recorded a CD and given it to a funeral director to use for services at the funeral home. That morning my husband had officiated at a funeral at that funeral home; his first visit there in over six years of ministry in this area. Hearing that pastor sing, he realized that the voice was the same one on the CD. You can imagine the joy in that pastor’s eyes when my husband told him he had heard the CD earlier in the day.
God is certainly in the details of our lives, wouldn’t you agree? By the way, that was the first time that we had the pleasure of meeting that pastor. My husband saw him again this morning at a program for pastors at Concordia University Wisconsin. A new friend in ministry!
