President Jan’s Blog: Mite Connection

In June I wrote about attending the Indiana District LWML convention and the relationships that are a blessing to me. My friend Betty shared the following story:
A Brazilian pastor was the guest preacher at our church in Lafayette many years ago and as part of the sermon he said that when he died and went to Heaven, the first thing he would do when he got there was to fall at Jesus’ feet and thank Him for all He had done for him, especially for giving His life to save him and making it possible for him to spend eternity with God in the joys of Heaven. And the second thing he would do is find the LWML ladies who had contributed the mites that enabled the missionary to come to his town and tell the people there about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I don’t remember much else from that sermon but this part stuck with me.
What a powerful story of the connection that your mites have with real people, all over the world. Thank you for your faithful prayer support and giving your mites. I know of one Brazilian pastor who will be looking for LWML supporters in heaven.

I have so much enjoyed reading your blog. I subscribe so the posts come automatically into my Reader and I read them, every one of them…..and then I pray for you, your family, your travel schedule that I know must be challenging for you at times, for your leadership (always accompanied by prayers of great thanks to God for calling you to use your gifts in leadership through the LWML and for the benefit of the Church and the women of our church), but I rarely comment. I love to hear about your travels, the people you encounter, the things God is teaching you as you connect with God’s people and enjoy reading your various musings as you search the Scriptures and experience life. Today’s post released my imagination and thinking to ponder the Kingdom-touching and Kingdom-building impact that LWML mites have had all over the world. What an awesome privilege to be one among thousands over decades that have deposited a coin into a little LWML mite box that have multiplied and magnified the very blessings of heaven. Awesome. Even though I wasn’t physically sitting in that church that Sunday in Lafayette, I think that Brazilian pastor’s words will stick with me too! Thanks for sharing this story and thanks for sharing your life with us.
