Hilltop Highlights
- 871 convention goers exercised and supported mission grants while participating in “Mission in Motion.”
- YWRs and Heart-to-Heart Sisters processed into the convention hall carrying Mission Flags and dressed in traditional garments while following six of the Past LWML Presidents.
- Camp Hood participants spelled out “God Reigns” as they marched in.
- Dr. Mary Hilgendorf continued her Bible study. She focused on Deborah’s song and encouraged participants to “share their song.”
- LWML President Janice Wendorf challenged all to make a commitment to be “In the Word, honoring a daily appointment with the Father and His Word; Of the Word, made over by the Holy Spirit, forgiven and restored; Walking with the Lord, totally confident of Christ’s presence in serving and living.”
- Special interest luncheons took “A Closer Look” into the lives and work of our featured convention speakers.
- While addressing the convention the Rev. Dr. Thomas Zehnder, Executive Director of LCMS World Mission stated, “The LWML has a profound understanding of God’s Mission to the World. LWML women have hearts for missions to share the Gospel of Jesus... God bless you as we work together for Jesus’ mission.”
- The 601 delegates elected new officers to help lead the organization. Elected for four-year terms were: Patti Ross of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Vice President of Christian Life; Linda Arnold of Woodridge, Illinois, Vice President of Communication; Marilyn McClure of Tuscon, Arizona, Vice President of Gospel Outreach; Judy Carlson of Paola, Kansas, Recording Secretary; and Rev. Kristopher Whitby of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Pastoral Counselor.
- Newly elected members of the Nominating Committee are Dianne Diekmann of Yankton, South Dakota, who will serve as chairman; Lois Ford of Eustis, Florida; Pam Kercher of Billings, Montana; Melody Rosenwinkel of Irwin, Idaho; and Marcia Wittenburg of Baker, Louisiana.
- Gifts from the Heart received at the convention totaled 308 health kits, 194 art kits, 697 packages of socks, 308 teddy bears, and 421 packages of t-shirts.
- The 2011 Convention Committee invited everyone to attend the 34th Biennial LWML Convention in Peoria, Illinois.
