Bursting Thermometers for Mites
Have you seen the bursting “mite thermometer”? Click here to see it! Mites collected for the 2011-13 biennium continue to support mission grants.
The 2013 Eurasian-LWML-Grace Place Missionary Gathering is set to take place this summer on the Island of Malta, involving 75 missionaries and their families. Seven leaders from the U.S. will facilitate this program, aimed at increasing the vibrancy and longevity of missionaries' ministry service by encouraging integrated health practices and holistic wellness, thereby reducing church-worker burnout. Grace Place donors have matched the $25,000 portion of our LWML grant to enable this retreat to happen.
The $45,000 balance of the grant for Haskell Indian Nations University Lutheran Campus Ministry Expansion has been paid. A recent report states, "Students are 'on-fire' for the Lord ... The worship service on Sunday mornings has grown to overflow capacity; students are seeking Bible study during the week and fellowship at the LIGHT House, as much as their schedules will allow. And future Native American leaders in the church are being identified."
During June 26-30, 2013, delegates to the Pittsburgh Convention will select new mission grants. May the thermometers that measure our mite-giving in 2013-15 continue to burst, as we fund more and more grants for ministries that spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world!
