Mission Servants (formerly Human Care)

Serving God, Serving Others, Serving Together

As early as the 1850s, women of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod focused on meeting the needs of people at home and abroad. No mission statement, primary target, or purpose statement informed their efforts to address the ever-present poverty, affliction, and pain. Their call to service was born of faith, commitment, sacrifice, and love for their Lord. Their passion for serving ignited what is now the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. This spirit of mission service thrives as generations of Lutheran Women in Mission continue to reach out to individuals all over the world.

Our encouragement to you therefore is: “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace … in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen”
(1 Peter 4:10-11).
