Lutheran Women Convene Board of Directors to Plan Future Programs

ST. LOUIS, MO- The Lutheran Women's Missionary League ­ Lutheran Women In Mission met here this past weekend with the elected and appointed women and men who serve on the Board of Directors of the organization.

The group convened to review plans for the 31st LWML biennial convention to be held June 16-19, 2005 in Tampa, Florida. The convention theme, "Live Joyfully as Salt and Light" will be emphasized throughout and the convention goal "Knowing I am the salt and the light, I will live joyfully for Christ and let my light shine" will be the focus of the convention. Attendance in Tampa at the four-day event will number in the thousands.

Other programs highlighted at the Board of Directors meeting included reports from Leadership for Tomorrow 2004, special task forces, long range planning and the introduction of new programs and products.

The LWML Board of Directors is composed of presidents who represent the 40 districts as well as members of the Executive Committee and committee chairmen.

The LWML, with a membership of over 250,000, is the official women's auxiliary of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The LWML focuses on affirming each woman in her relationship with Christ to enable her to be in ministry among the people of the world. For over 60 years the LWML has been encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to financially support global mission.
