LUTHERAN WOMEN IN MISSION THIS WEEKThis issue is just a brief reminder of the eight upcoming LWML district conventions over the next weekend or so. Please pray that God will have his hand on the details and Jesus will govern the hearts of the women as they set new mission goals and celebrate past accomplishments. Two new district presidents will be elected, one from South Wisconsin and one from Mid-South. Thursday June 17-Saturday June 19 will see Iowa District West celebrating "Jesus, Our Anchor, Our Hope" at Camp Okoboji in Milford, Iowa. Vice President of Servant Resources Marguerite Christman will be the LWML representative. Minnesota South District LWML will meet in St. Peter, Minnesota. Counselor Rev. Dan Heuer will be on hand to represent the LWML as they "Fly on Eagles' Wings." Three districts will be in convention starting just a day later on Friday June 18 and culminating on Saturday June 19. Iowa District East will work with the theme "Beautiful are the Feet of Those who bring Good News." Vice President of Christian Life Jan Wendorf will represent the LWML as they meet in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Vice President of Human Care will join the LWML members of Nebraska North as they meet in Columbus, Nebraska with "God's Power, Our Progress" as their theme. South Wisconsin rounds out this group as they meet in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Vice President of Gospel Outreach Judy Knebel will be on hand to "Proclaim the Glory of the Lord" with them. Two more conventions will begin on Friday June 18. These have longer formats and will run until Sunday June 20. Vice President of Communication Janet Hurta will bring official news of LWML to the Mid-South District LWML in Memphis, Tennessee. Their theme will be "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me." Washington-Alaska LWML will declare "He is the Vine, We are the Branches" in Yakima, Washington. President Linda Reiser will bring greetings to them. North Wisconsin LWML will celebrate "From Age to Age the Same" midweek as they meet Monday June 21 through Wednesday June 23. Vice President of Communication Janet Hurta will join them in Stevens Point, Wisconsin bringing the LWML report. THE LUTHERAN WOMEN'S MISSIONARY LEAGUEThe Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), with a membership of over 250,000, is the official women's auxiliary of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The LWML focuses on affirming each woman in her relationship with Christ to enable her to be in ministry among the people of the world. For over 60 years the LWML has been encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to financially support global mission.
