LWML e-News #32 Welcome to a special Advent edition of LWML e-news. We pray that the information in this 32nd issue will assist you in your end of year planning and in your Christmas preparations. Please forward this e-mail to friends and members of LWML. E-mail is an important tool in communicating our mission. THINKING ABOUT CHRISTMAS? Go tell it on the mountain - through the mail and everywhere - that Jesus Christ is born! The holiday season is upon us, and so is the time to send glad tidings to all. The LWML's new Christmas card is the perfect way to share the joy of the Savior's birth with friends and family both near and far. Recently, the striking four-color card was featured in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which has a daily circulation of about 300,000. The newspaper highlighted the LWML card in a large display package about holiday greeting cards "sealed with a cause" - ones benefiting groups that raise money to help others. Take the "sealed with a cause" challenge: Try to get your local newspaper or other media to feature the new LWML Christmas card, as well as the mission of the LWML, so that people in your community can spread the good news that Christ the Savior is born. Not only could they benefit from the cards, but they could also learn something about Lutheran Women in Mission. The card features an elegant watercolor wash depicting Bethlehem and the star. Ten cards come in each $5 package (#16520). Along with Christmas cheer comes a great deal: Buy 30 packages for $100, a savings of $50, while supplies last. The cards can make a great fundraising project for societies, zones and districts and are also perfect for personal use as well as gift-giving. Visit www.lwml.org/https://www.lwml.org/lwml_secure/index_catalog; or call 1-800-252-LWML for more information. See what the card and LWML ornament look like at www.lwml.org/pdfs/dec05_flyer.pdf PROGRAMS TO PREPARE? During Advent, there are some great resources that can help you prepare for Christ's birth. Look in the Program Helps section of the catalog under "Christmas" for individual resources, or order the Christmas Season Collection (#51010, $15), which includes 29 Advent/Christmas/New Year programs. Visit www.lwml.org/https://www.lwml.org/lwml_secure/index_catalog; to order or get more information. GIFTS TO GIVE? Have you considered an LWML-themed gift for those you remember at Christmas, especially those who have served your group or church throughout the year, such as the pastor or church secretary? Some new items in the LWML catalog that make great gifts: the LWML ornament, LWML watches, purple turtleneck, jackets, purple polo shirts, stationery tote, and a purple mission awareness band (a perfect stocking stuffer). All these and more are available at www.lwml.org/https://www.lwml.org/lwml_secure/index_catalog; or by calling 1-800-252-LWML. PRAYER SERVICE NOW AVAILABLE "Let There Be Light!" is the theme of the 2006 LWML Prayer Service and is available for downloading from the LWML Web site at www.lwml.org/prayer_service_2006/index.html Based on the three articles of the Nicene Creed, this is a service of reflection on the light of God. The prayer service is designed not only for a pre-Lent LWML event or spring prayer service, but also for any time of the year. Those unable to get this resource from the Web site can call the LWML Office at 1-800-252-LWML for a copy. NEW GIVING OPTION LWML has enrolled in the GivingPlus® Program, a one-of-a-kind member-directed granting program offered through Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. A gift to the LWML can now accomplish even more. Through the Giving Plus® Program, a member's financial gift will be supplemented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Thrivent will contribute $1 for every $2 donated to LWML up to a $300 maximum supplement to the organization per year. How can you get more information and start using the GivingPlus®Program?
