LWML > News > e-News > Issue 41

As we come together in our prayer time, let us give thanks for the beginning of fall, for the rest and relaxation away from our "too busy" schedules. With school starting and schedules resuming, we remember the Kingdom work that needs to be done.
But may they who love You be like the sun when it rises in its strength. Judges 5:31b (NIV)
Heavenly Father, we thank You for giving us time to relax and re-create. Stir our hearts to remember that Your work continues no matter what the temperature or time of year. Today we especially pray for our missionaries overseas who labor tirelessly to share the Good News that will bring others into Your kingdom. Bless their faithful efforts done in Your name. Keep the goal of funding our Mission Grants in our hearts and minds. Help us to continue our mite giving even while we enjoy a slower pace during the summer. For Jesus' sake and in His name. Amen.

DISTRICT CONVENTIONS
Let us continue our thanksgiving for the completion of 34 district conventions! Here are the latest updates ...
Iowa District East: Kathryn Schweer ably led her convention and the 370 guests, including 19 YWRs. Interest sessions were held on stem cell research. We welcome a new DP, Mabel Schmidt of Cedar Rapids.
Michigan: Anita Beyersdorf did a great job leading her first convention. Many first-timers, 38 YWRs and 750+ attendees heard outstanding mission speakers. A teen booth offered activities, brochures, products and an orientation opportunity.
Wyoming: DP Chris Fiechtl and the 125 women gathered in Laramie, celebrated a very unique theme, "Walking in His Light - Life With My Lord" (note the LWML in the second half of that theme!). We welcome Gerry Neeriemer as the new DP.

LWML-CANADA MEETS
LWML-Canada: O Canada! They had 351 in attendance, between 45-50 first timers, 17 YWRs and 7 teens. LWMLC voted a $100,000 mission goal for the next triennium (the group voted to go to a triennium event in 2003).
LWML-Canada held its first-ever mission pledge walk -after their president, Marilyn Schultz, saw this in Tampa - and raised a little more than $12,000! Plans are being made to send a delegation to the Sioux Falls convention.

GOODSEARCH HITS MILESTONE
We've passed the $1,000 mark in raising money for missions on GoodSearch! Since signing up to receive a penny per search in January, thousands of searches have been made that will benefit LWML mission grants. The more we use the search engine, the more we make for mites. Let's see how much we can raise the rest of the year! Visit www.goodsearch.com and type LWML under "I'm supporting" to participate.
