A New Year! What will the Lord have in store for each of us as we turn the pages of the calendar this year? Let us renew our commitment to join Together in Prayer Every Monday at Noon, as we pray for the ministry of the LWML and seek the Lord’s guidance each new day. Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands. Zephaniah 2:3 Dear Lord, You are my daily guide on this journey of life. Help me to remember that each day You give me offers new opportunities to serve You. With a grateful heart I kneel before You and offer my humble gratitude for filling my past and my present with Your unfailing love. Forgive me for the many sins I have committed each day. Dear Savior, how could I ever show my appreciation to You for the priceless gift of forgiveness bought for me through Your precious blood? Let me welcome the many challenges ahead this year with hope because of the faith given to me by the Holy Spirit. Assured of spending all my days with You, I joyfully sing Your praises for the promise of life for this day and throughout eternity. This I pray in the most holy Name of Jesus. Amen. LWML RECEIVES GRANT TO SPUR GIVINGMINNEAPOLIS (January 20, 2007) – The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), St. Louis, Mo., recently received a $100,000 grant designed to generate thousands more in financial gifts to the organization. The grant will fund “Gifts of Love,” a planned giving program supporting LWML’s already established endowment. The grant is one of 75 awarded by the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation as part of its $4.8 million Charitable Gifting Initiative program. “On behalf of all LWML Lutheran Women in Mission, we thank Thrivent for this unique opportunity to motivate and educate our mission-minded members to remember the Lord’s work done through the LWML in their estate plans,” said Linda Reiser, president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. “It is our hope that this grant will strengthen LWML’s ability to inform potential donors of various options available to them to financially support the organization’s work,” said Brad Hewitt, president of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. “As people come alongside LWML with charitable gifts, the organization will become increasingly effective in carrying out its mission.” The 2006 Charitable Gifting Initiative grants ranged from $5,000 to $100,000. The 75 grants are expected to generate a total of more than $160 million in immediate or deferred monetary gifts to Lutheran institutions.
