Week of November 27 - Share the Thanks-giving Joy!

This past week I had the privilege of sending our first three checks for mission grants for the 2011-13 biennium. What a joy to be able to support the “Cancer Care Package Ministry,” “Gospel Outreach Through Open Arms Childcare,” and “Physical and Spiritual Nourishment for the Impoverished–US/Mexico Border”!

In addition to these three recipients, we have six more requests pending. As I review the printable Mites Received page on our website, I realize that we lack sufficient funds to pay all of these requests. Although our motto has been to "Start Strong ... Finish Strong," we have fallen behind early. Now is the time to catch up.

The Mite Marathon ideas for November can help. If each of us gives $$ for every inch our waist measures, or if we celebrate "Cyber Monday" by donating online, we can fund all of these grant requests. Please share the Thanks-giving joy of funding grants that can make an eternal difference for so many.

Week of November 20 - Returning Thanks - LWML Purple Style

God has richly blessed the LWML since 1942. This Thanksgiving I encourage you to join with others in returning thanks for the many accomplishments of this organization done in His name.

Retailers call the day after Thanksgiving “Black Friday”, a day when shoppers hit the stores to begin major Christmas shopping. Lutheran Women in Mission are again declaring Friday, November 25, as "Purple Friday." Wear your favorite LWML purple and join in the 24 hour Prayer Vigil to thank God for what He has done through mission grants. Pray for support for the funding of the 2011-2013 mite goal at 6 a.m., 10 a.m., 2 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. With four time zones in the United States there will be prayers from early morning until late at night.

On "Cyber Monday," November 28, continue your support. While you are "surfing" for great deals be sure to shop at www.lwml.org and donate. Your donation “purchase” will have lasting rewards. Let's set a new record for one day online donations.

This Thanksgiving I am grateful for the privilege of serving with you. I wish you joy as together we thank the Lord for His many blessings.

Week of November 13 - Gifts with Eternal Impact

Thanksgiving has yet to arrive, but the Christmas shopping season has already begun! As you are making your shopping list, consider giving a gift that has an eternal impact. Week of November 6 - Spreading the Word

On Sunday, October 30, 2011, we celebrated Reformation Sunday at our church. Martin Luther felt it was imperative for God’s people to have His Holy Scripture translated into their everyday language. Our mission grant featured for November is the Lutheran Bible Translators’ efforts to translate into audio and written forms the Bible in several languages used in Botswana and Ghana. What a privilege to be a part of this through our mite offerings!

Resources provided through the LWML Christian Life Department provide several options for you to share the Word of God and His words of comfort and grace. These resources have been written for women, by women and are inexpensive and convenient to use. They are available through the online store or the catalog.
