Week of September 25 - Finding Your Center
The ideal world-class ballet dancer will always appear graceful and balanced. The key to this appearance is centering. Early in their training, they learn to find their center — the position in which they can rest in total balance. Once they
find their center, they are ready for anything. All ballet movements begin from here.
This remarkable phenomenon applies to our lives as Christians as well. Finding Christ as our center and keeping Him as our central focus is an intentional, learned behavior powered by the Holy Spirit. The Christ-centered position of a believer allows them to rest as other pressures fall into balance. Living with Jesus as our center prepares us for anything. All that we do, think, or say begins from our centeredness in Him.
Feeling off balance? Ask Jesus to be your center.
For 'In him we live and move and have our being'. Acts 17:28a

Week of September 11 - Cleansed from Every Sin
Laptops which students purchase for school in the fall are equipped with spell-checking programs. What a blessing to have this resource to correct typos! However, there are times when they fail to cleanse the document of all errors; for example, they usually do not accurately check the spelling of proper names or words in other languages. Spell-checking programs, while useful, are imperfect because they are invented by imperfect human beings.
In contrast, we as Christians have Jesus who washes away ALL of our “errors”; through His blood we are purged of each and every sin. We need not purchase this program, install it, or maintain it. It never crashes; it works without batteries. It is given to us through Christ as a free gift that works 100% of the time on sins of all kinds.
“… the blood of Jesus … cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7b).

Week of September 4 - Hurricane Irene Disaster Relief Update
LCMS World Relief and Human Care
The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) staff will be on the ground in New York beginning September 1, 2011. The Rev. Glenn F. Merritt, director of Disaster Response with LCMS World Relief and Human Care (WR-HC), plans to assist congregations with assessments and grant requests early next week in New York, Connecticut and other areas.
In response to an email early last week from LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, district presidents in impacted states have so far reported no LCMS-related deaths or substantial damage to congregations or schools. Merritt stressed, however, greater needs may surface as assessments continue.
As LCMS leaders continue to check with congregations in hard-hit communities, Merritt reiterated that early reports do not mean Irene caused no substantial damage in LCMS congregations and communities. “As the extent of the damage becomes clear, The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod will support the outreach efforts of local congregations and districts across the stricken region,” Merritt stated.
