Proclaimed Praise

In the Word

… we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done (Psalm 78:4b).

Of the Word

Journalism students have heard it: people like to read about people. Indeed, biographies dominate best-seller lists and publications about celebrities fill magazine racks. We like to hear stories about people.

While few of us appear in the pages of magazines or between the covers of a book, each of us has a story to tell. It’s a story others need to hear. Our story is about the Holy Spirit, who nurtures, deepens, and strengthens our faith throughout our lives. Highlights include how we have received His comfort in our sorrows, how we have experienced His power in our weakness, and how we have seen His presence in our joys.

People — especially young people — need to hear about God’s work in the lives of believers. They want to know what God does when a believer is troubled, when a believer is in need. They need to hear how believers rely on Him through all the challenges of life. Praise Him; then proclaim your praise by telling of the wonderful things He has done.

Walking with my Lord

Lord, grant me voice to tell the wondrous things You’ve done,
For in Your story’s telling, many souls are won. In Your name I pray. Amen.
