10 Ways to Use Quarterly
Bible Studies
by Gretchen Gebhardt
1. Personal study
- Find a quiet place and work through the Bible study on your
own. Ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten you as you use this means
of grace.
2. As part of family devotions
- If time allows work through the whole study with your family
or share insights from what you have learned.
3. With your prayer partner
- Set a regular time to meet with your prayer partner and study
the Scripture together. As you study add things to your prayer
list as the Holy Spirit guides you.
4. In your local society
- Don't let business or social activities lead your group away
from a study of God's Word. Make Bible study a priority every
time you get together.
5. With those who are homebound
- Take your Quarterly and an extra copy along when you
visit people who cannot attend church. Work through the Bible
study and grow together.
6. In a nursing home
- Contact the activity director of a nearby nursing home and
ask for permission to lead an occasional Bible study or start
one on a regular basis.
7. Choir practice intermission
- Take a break during choir practice and spend time in God's
Word.
8. On a road trip
- As you drive to your destination discuss the study with those
who are in the car with you. Do not read and drive!
9. Start a "Stitch and Study" group
- Invite friends to bring a sewing project to work on while
you lead a lesson or work together on a project and study afterwards.
10. Retreat
- Whether alone or in a group, retreat to a quiet place and
spend time with God, focusing on His Word for you.
