Be Joyful ... She Is!
by Linda Bailey

Upon meeting Annetta Dellinger, you know right away that joy is certainly not an emotion hidden away in her heart. Her total being exudes joy-her speech, her attitude, her actions and especially her love for the Lord. In fact, Annetta's mission statement reads: "To be a joy-filled vessel that the Lord would use to uplift others and make a difference in their lives and to encourage readers to intimately know Jesus, the real Source of Joy, and to be ablaze in His grace."

Annetta, who calls herself the Joy Lady, writes, "It is not always easy to be joyful, but it is possible because as Christians we have a secret strength known as hope." Her main goal is to share that hope with as many people as possible through her gifted-service of writing. In addition, Annetta presents motivational and inspirational retreats, workshops and seminars. Her messages are Biblically sound, currently relevant and power packed.

Joyful women photoBe Joyful ...Who Me? Mini Joy-Spirations to Energize Your Day is the most recent of her 30 published works. This book is rich with joy boosters, stress busters and hope builders that will help the reader experience a positive difference in a busy stressful day.

The following are excerpts from a recent interview with Annetta.

Q. What was your motivation for writing Be Joyful ... who Me? Mini Joy-Spirations?

A. I love working for the Lord! I give Him all the glory and praise Him for the opportunity to meet many new people and listen to their needs. As I travel across the United States, I continually hear women share their frustrations about wanting to spend time with the Lord, but because of their jam-packed daily schedules there is little time for reflection and quiet time. They ask for short but profound daily spiritual guidance, seeking to find hope and joy in all circumstances.

Q. What are the general purpose and format of the book?

A. The purpose of this book is three-fold:

  1. To encourage readers to spend time in God's Word where the Spirit will develop lasting joy in a personal relationship with God.
  2. To influence the reader's outlook on life and her day-to-day decision making.
  3. To provide a short, biblically based, energizing spiritual resource for the busy, tired, stressed woman who wants to spend time with the Lord while on the run and hopefully draw her to want to go deeper.

This fresh approach, called Joy-Spirations, energizes women with "wow" and "wonder" as they learn to face their daily challenges and disappointments. Joy-Spirations connect God's Word with real life applications. The unique format combines and coordinates two types of articles:

"Grab Joy and Go"-ways to walk with hope through whatever comes your way.

"Joy Bursts"-personal anecdotes of women who have faced crises and with the help of Christ have found hope and lasting joy.

Q. How do you visualize women using this book?

A. There are several ways to use Be joyful ... Who Me? Short inspirational accounts can be read all at one sitting or one at a time. Carry the book in the car. Keep it on the kitchen counter or by the phone and enjoy a joy-spiration while you wait. Read joy-spirations from the beginning to the end of the book, at random, by a specific topic or select a Scripture text. (The Table of Contents provides an easy way to do this.) Use it for personal or group devotion.

Q. Do you have plans for another book?

A. There are always book ideas flowing through my thoughts. Only Jesus knows what is planned for me. I am open, available and ready to be Jesus' Joyologist as I write and speak in His service.

Annetta Dellinger, whose PHD stands for "Perky Happy Disciple," exemplifies "living God's Word." Her overflowing enthusiasm, warmth and love for people offers a refreshing message filled with humor, hope and real-life application. So, Be Joyful
