People of God Seminary in Kazakhstan - $60,000

Since the LCMS began mission work in Kazakhstan in 1994, five Lutheran congregations have been established. In 1996 the People of God Seminary was established to provide training and education for lay and pastoral workers. The expansion of the church in Kazakhstan and the ability to reach out with the Gospel depends on training more workers, both lay and pastoral, in all aspects of church life. So far, 18 seminary students have been taught by Rev. Al Miller who, with his wife Lee, is serving in Kazakhstan. Because most people in this country live below poverty level, our mites will provide for basic things such as translation and printing of materials, lunch for the students, transportation and program administration. The students are eager to share the Good News of Christ's love with others in this country that had for so long been in the grip of atheism.

Ethnic Children with Partners in Mission - $100,000

MinneapolisSt. Paul may not be a place one would traditionally think of as a home for ministry to ethnic children, but in recent years children from all parts of the world have come here. Many come from dysfunctional homes, overcrowded living conditions, many without a father present. Partners In Mission (PIM) was organized in 1986 to help inner-city churches bring the love of Jesus to these children through LCMS ethnic mission churches in their neighborhoods. They do this by helping with materials, Bibles, invitational handouts, ethnic leaders, training and organization.

The LWML That Could

The mission grants selected by the delegates to the 2003 Oklahoma City Convention are fulfilling the LWML Pledge. Through these grants, the willing hands and feet, the voice to share God's love and the task of bringing the lost and erring into eternal fellowship with Him is happening. You have pledged your silver and gold to extend His kingdom; you have pledged your voice to lift these missions in prayer; and you have pledged your willing service.

The LWML that could-and does-is supporting these mission outreach efforts through our mite giving. Continue your prayers and support as members, friends and volunteer workers of the LWML.
