CAME-Reaching Asian Immigrants $50,000

Asian children photoAbout 16 million Asians live in North America today, and 97 percent of them are unchurched. They come from many countries-India, Laos, Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam-seeking the "American Dream," but what they need most is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The center for Asian Missions and Evangelism (CAME) has worked with many partners to plant 92 Asian mission stations in the past seven years. This mission grant will further CAME's ministry by helping train and mentor new Asian missionaries and evangelists, by producing outreach materials and by starting an Internet outreach in various Asian languages to proclaim the Gospel to 1 million Asian-Americans by 2008.

These items were shipped to Orphan Grain Train and distributed by Lutheran World Relief. The women assembled two van loads of children's kits and health kits for men and women. An LWML bear was enclosed in each children's kit! From left to right: Bev England, Patti Ross, Sammye Romine, Kathy Morella and Elaine Aston.

Women Reach Out to Hurricane Survivors

As Hurricane Katrina forced thousands to flee their homes and livelihoods with little or nothing, gifts of love and compassion from Lutheran Women in Mission all over the United States began pouring in, answering LWML President Linda Reiser's call for help. LWML has partnered with LCMS World Relief and Human Care to help hurricane survivors begin to rebuild their lives by meeting some of their basic needs.
