Mission Ministry VisionMMV - Helpline for the Future
by Lucinda Mosley

"What is MMV?" This question is often asked as I wear my MMV nametag or button. Being a member of the 1999 pilot program of Mission Ministry Vision has proved to be both challenging and rewarding.

Challenging? Yes. When I am called to a society, zone or district, my first thought is "How will I be accepted?" or "How can I help?" I'm aware that I don't have all the answers. I am there to guide, to give support and to point societies to helpful resources.

Rewarding? Yes! The rewards are great because I know I have helped meet the needs of LWML women and helped nurture their spiritual growth. A group of women in Alabama is especially dear to my heart; some of them are my schoolmates. Their membership includes long-time faithful members as well as some new to the society. These new women had moved away from the area years ago and are now returning with different ideas and experiences. How can these varied members work together? They asked me how to get their society active again. The wheels started turning! They decided to have more special activities to interest the women of the congregation. Duties were divided so no one person was burdened. One brave member volunteered to serve as president. Experiences at a national LWML convention and district activities added more ideas and enthusiasm. That society is now meeting on a regular basis and has even been instrumental in adding a fellowship hall onto their church.

This society is further strengthened by another Gulf States district congregation who "adopted" them. The larger society has provided encouragement, ideas, Bibles and even furnishings for the kitchen! Sharing has been a blessing to both groups. They are living out Hebrews 10:24-25: Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds ... let us encourage one other.
