Gospel Outreach and Church Planting with Childcare Ministry - $70,000

Parents looking for quality care for their child find it with Lutheran childcare facilities. The lessons these children learn about the love of Jesus are brought home and proclaimed to the family.

Our Savior's Way Lutheran Church in Ashburn, Virginia, began their "Open Arms" childcare program in 1999. The congregation now has a worship attendance of over 350, with an enrollment in the childcare program at 240.

In Fairbanks, Alaska, Zion Lutheran Church purchased a second site to erect a childcare facility. They have enrolled two hundred children and dedicated a new sanctuary on this second site since their worship attendance had doubled.

This grant of $70,000 helps establish new LCMS congregations in growing communities and expand outreach programs for existing congregations.

Responding to HIV/AIDS Among Congregations in Kenya - $51,000

Kenya has been ravaged by HIV/AIDS disease, with 17 percent of its population infected.

Lutheran World Relief and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenya support livelihoods for those affected by this disease. The use of revolving loans and training in better food production provide food and money for medical care and other needs.

Children are the most vulnerable to this disease. Many are orphaned and left as the child-headed household. A grant of $51,000 provides training for caregivers and guardians of orphans, educational materials, and counseling through established Lutheran congregations.

Inner City Mission and Ministry photo

Inner City Mission and Ministry, Buffalo, New York - $100,000

"Go ye therefore . . . " into the highways and byways, on the corners, in the drug houses, and on the battlefield for Christ. This is the call to the start of a new ministry in the inner city of Buffalo.

Hannaniah Lutheran mission is reaching out to this community with the true words of comfort—sins forgiven in Christ Jesus. They work the streets and bring the little ones to God's altar.

In this East Buffalo community, Hannaniah Lutheran Mission has been offered a facility to renovate and make a multipurpose ministry outreach and Family Life Center. This will become a safe place for children and families to be taught God's Word and learn of His love for them.

A grant of $100,000 will provide pastoral support, renovations to the building, Bibles and Sunday School materials, and training materials for outreach workers.
