Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the
A woman’s perception of how she looks is often measured by the nearly anorexic model of beauty promulgated by Hollywood. Concentrating on inner beauty is difficult to do when everyonelse focuses on the external. But we have been spiritually transformed. In his commentary, Dr. Richard Lenski, a Lutheran pastor and writer, interpreted 2 Corinthians 3:18 by saying that God transforms us spiritually when we are reborn in faith so that we will reflect the brightness of Christ’s face. This is a spiritual transformation that does not change who we are, but whose we are. The transformation is complete in the sense that God has made us His own to reflect His glory, but incomplete in the sense that our own efforts do not match God’s. As our lives become patterned less by the world and more and more on the Word of God, the full glory of God’s love in our lives is revealed more and more to the world. Our lives gradually become brighter and more beautiful as God nurtures our faith and we become like Him. Christ’s love changes our lives! We don’t have to ask who is the fairest of all; instead we can rejoice that our sins have been made as white as snow by the blood of the Lamb. Our Bridegroom is not just a prince; He is the King of Kings and our Lord of Lords. He is the Redeemer who paid dearly for us — His bride. We are mirrors that reflect His glory. Look in the mirror and rejoice! |
