Young Women

Hide and Seek

Hide and seek. A fun game growing up. As an adult, however, I have gotten better at hiding than seeking. Can you see me? I'm here, but I'm hiding. You see what I am doing, but

Do you see who I am?

I am a mom, busily running here and there with two kids. Yet I am also the same mom who feels guilty when her temper flares unnecessarily under the stress and strain.

Do you see who I am?

I am the devoted wife of a military reservist who was deployed. Yet I am also a woman lonely and sometimes angry at the circumstances.

Do you see who I am?

I am a diligent worker and member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Yet I am also a woman critical of her abilities and wary of her decisions.

Do you see who I am?

I am human. I stumble with the uncertainties of life and falter when I am not in communion with my Heavenly Father. But I am also a child of God.

Now I see who I am. I am His chosen - chosen to be His own; chosen to seek Him, not hide from Him.

Hide and seek. I am so glad that I do not have to hide my true self from God. He seeks me out in the quiet places, the dark places, and the uncertain places.

Oh, Lord, you have searched me and you know me Where can I go from your Spirit? (Psalm 139)

Spotlight on a Young Woman

Chris Carattini of Dickinson, North Dakota, is treasurer of the LWML unit at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sunday School Superintendent, and member of Board of Christian Education. But whether she is pulling weeds in the church flower beds or cleaning the Sunday School classrooms, you can be sure that her children Zachary, Paige, and Natalie are not far behind. Chris has found that balancing motherhood and Serving the Lord with Gladness go hand in hand.

These young women attended the South Dakota LWML District Convention as Young Women Representatives.

Read an article by Kelli Anawski (back row, left), former YWR and newly elected Vice President of Servant Resources in the South Dakota District LWML, in the Impressions newsletter online.

Quotable Quotes

Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel (Luke 2:29-32).

... the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about" But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told (Luke 2:15, 19-20).
