Lutheran Leaders’ Training
Institute — Pakistan $75,000

Islamic nations offer a great challenge for those who desire to proclaim the forgiveness of Jesus to the Muslims. For the first time the LCMS has a presence in Pakistan through a cooperative effort with POBLO.

Indigenous missionaries and pastors are eager to be trained to tell others of the good news of the Gospel. This Lutheran Leaders Training Institute has outgrown its current facility. Even with the limited space and dangers that surround them, 25 leaders are set to go forth to gather the harvest.

A proposed site has been found in the Pakistani Christian ommunity. This site will accommodate 80-100 men with space for training, dorms, a library, a chapel, and dining and kitchen facilities— all with a secure perimeter wall and ample parking.

A grant of $75,000 constructs the Lutheran Leaders Training Institute in Pakistan.

Shipping Orphan Grain Train Containers to Africa and Russia $30,000

Reaching out to all nations with the love of Christ is what the Orphan Grain Train is all about. They serve the needs of those in countries where poverty is a way of life. They shine the light of the Gospel by supplying humanitarian aid to those in need.

Working together with Lutheran partner churches, the Orphan Grain Train distributes quilts, health kits, medical supplies, as well as religious material such as Bibles and Portals of Prayer to those in women’s prisons, children’s prisons, orphanages, and others who have not only spiritual needs but also physical needs. In the former Soviet Union alone more than 400 institutions have been helped since 1993. Children left behind in orphanages in West Africa due to civil war are in dire need of our help.

A grant of $30,000 enables the Orphan Grain Train to finance the shipment of containers filled with humanitarian aid supplies to be distributed by Lutheran Churches in Africa and Russia.

Ablaze! Implementation in North America $100,000

To be the salt for the earth is an awesome task for Christians. Through the power of the Spirit and the Word this task is accomplished in His time and His way. At our doorstep in North America there are 200 million people who do not know the saving forgiveness of Jesus.

The awesome task of the LCMS Ablaze! program — to reach 50 million unbelievers or uncommitted individuals in North America by 2017 — is under way. To achieve this goal LCMS World Missions hopes to train and equip pastors and individuals with skills to reach out to their spheres of influence with the Gospel.

LCMS women will be a vital part of this effort of evangelism and need the training and materials to assist them in their Ablaze! effort.

With a grant of $100,000 the LWML would partner with LCMS World Mission to help achieve the Ablaze! vision for North America.
