From the Editor ...
“Are you sitting down?” A phone call that begins like that rarely bodes well — even if the LWML President is on the other end of the line.
The voice continued, “We’ve decided to appoint you Quarterly Editor-in-Chief.”
Coming up for air, I gasped, “Did you see my resume? There’s nothing checked under the editor category. Not even on my radar. What’s more, no experience.” (Being the self-appointed editor of The F Building News, 3rd Floor Edition when I was a fourth grader does not count in the grown up world.)
“I’d do anything for the LWML, but not that.”
But the more I rattled off all my “no” reasons, the more the person on the other end was not convinced … and her confidence in me helped mine to emerge.
My service as your editor-in-chief for the past two years was a risk for all of us. However, this became clear: If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 4:11b). That makes all the difference.
I am thankful for His promises and for the talented staff whose teamwork shines through each page. With this issue, two editors (Peggy and Shari) complete their terms and two more (Carolyn and Diane) take the risk to join the rest of us on the LWQ staff for the next two years.
His Name be praised.
