LWML LOVES TEENS
Friends Into Serving Him groups are forming all across the nation and the women of LWML couldn’t be happier to be “serving the Lord with gladness”….with teens!

Here are some ideas that Friends Into Serving Him groups can use to share their love with those around them this summer. Use one or use them all! And if you have great ideas of your own, please let us know. Email them to dephc@lwml.org
Fall Ideas
Events
Pumpkin Carving Party
Invite elementary aged girls to join you and help them carve their pumpkins. Take the opportunity to show Christ’s love and encourage the younger girls to find ways to show love to others. This is a great way for teens to take leadership and actually be mentors. There are several more ideas that could be used at this event.
Servant Activities
Rake and Run!
Elderly neighbors would love to have your group show up and take care of their leaves. Don’t accept payment. The most fun way to do this is to rake and run before anyone knows the deed is being done!
Cookie Bake!
With the coming of cooler days, the urge to bake may be just the thing you need to share some love with college students, teachers, and homebound friends. Be sure to include a card with a Bible verse.
Pretty Pumpkins!
Have a pumpkin decorating party. Pumpkins can be given to new neighbors as a welcome gift or nursing home residents. These decorations can be used through October and November.
Instead of carving pumpkins, decorate them. Gold spray paint may be used to paint the entire pumpkin or leave it natural, then add fall flowers and bows to the stem. Use florist wire or even paperclips.

Snacks
Sweet Cornucopias
Use sugar cones (ice cream cones with a point) to hold your favorite treats or trail mix. Candy corn, M&Ms, dried fruit, nuts, coconut and fruit snacks make great fillers for these sweet snacks.
Taco Dip
Be sure to buy lots of chips, they’ll love this one!
Brown:
1 lb hamburger (season with garlic salt and pepper to taste)
Place in coated slow cooker with:
1 lb Velveeta cheese (cut in ½ inch cubes)
1 cup shredded cheddar
2 cups salsa
8 oz sour cream
Small can sliced black olives (optional)
Heat on low for 1 ½ to 2 hours. Stir once or twice during cooking.
Bible Study Activity
Is there Autumn in the Bible?
Well, there was a lot of falling! Break your group into small groups (5-6 teens) and have them read one of the “falling” stories from the Bible. Then have each group share their story through a pantomime or skit. Here is a list of stories to get you started:
| Tower of Babel |
Genesis 11 |
| Joshua and Jericho |
Joshua 6 |
| Sodom and Gomorrah |
Genesis 19 |
| Fall into Sin |
Genesis 3 |
| House on the Sand |
Matthew 7 |
"Pumpkin Prayer"
(cut off top of pumpkin)
Lord, open my mind so I can learn new things about you.
(remove seeds, etc.)
Remove the things in my life that don’t please you.
Forgive the wrong things I do and help me to forgive others.
(cut holes for eyes)
Open my eyes to see the beauty you’ve made in the world around me.
(cut hole for nose)
I’m sorry for the times I’ve turned my nose at the good food you provide.
(cut hole for mouth)
Let everything I say please You.
(place candle inside and light)
Lord, help me show your light to others through the things I do. Amen
