LWML LOVES TEENS
Friends Into Serving Him groups are forming all across the nation and the women of LWML couldn’t be happier to be “serving the Lord with gladness”….with teens!

Here are some ideas that Friends Into Serving Him groups can use to share their love with those around them this winter. Use one or use them all! And if you have great ideas of your own, please let us know. Email them to dephc@lwml.org
Servant Activities
Winter Worship Banner
Need to brighten up your church now that the Christmas Decorations are all down? Make a banner for your congregation. Here’s what you need:
One twin size flat white sheet (or white material)
One twin size flat blue sheet (or 4 yards material)
Heat-n-Bond or other iron-on adhesive
Letter stencils
Dowels and rope for hanging
Sharp scissors! |

Cut a snowflake out of paper. Then trace the snowflake onto iron-on adhesive. (It may be easier to make simple snowflakes. Remember these will all need to be cut out.) Iron adhesive to white sheet and then cut out snowflakes. You will also need to trace letters to spell “Wash me and I will be whiter than snow”. You could also include Psalm 51:7.
Sew blue material into a “big pillow case”. Sew a casing at top and bottom for dowels. (Banner shown is approximately 3x5’.) Once all snowflakes and letters are cut and backing paper removed, lay blue background material on beach towels or other padding and arrange snowflakes and letters. Press and insert dowels. You may want to attach a small label to the back telling who made the banner and when it was made.
MITEy Ideas
Mitey Make-It Day
This day of fun and creativity can bring teens together with other generations as they catch up on needlepoint, quilting, scrapbooking, card stamping, or learning a new craft.
To make this a Mitey Day, request a donation to Mites or give part of the registration fee to Mites.
Lenten Dinners lead to shopping!
Consider serving a dinner before Lenten worship or ice cream bar afterwards, with donations going toward the purchase of Gifts from the Heart items for your upcoming District Convention.
Snacks
Walking Tacos
They are just like your regular tacos, just a bit more portable! Gather your common taco fixings: seasoned meat, cheese, salsa, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, and other favorites. Skip the shell and use individual serving bag of Doritos. Cut the top off the bag and add the meat and fixings. Add a fork and you have a simple meal to go!
Mystery Trail Mix
Have each teen bring a cup or two of a trail mix item. Cereals, M&Ms, nuts, pretzels, chocolate chips, and dried fruit are a great start! Have each teen keep their item hidden and have an adult mix the items together. The result is always delicious!
Bible Study Activity
Love Scavenger Hunt
Allow your group time to search for a Bible verse containing the word “love”. Then go around the group and ask them to share their verse and why it is special to them. There may be duplicates, but the meaning for each teen will differ and add more meaning for the others present. Be sure to close with a reminder of God’s love that is with us today, tomorrow, and forever.
Here are a few verses to get you started:
Ps. 17:7 Ps. 33:22 Prov. 3:3 Prov 10:12
Matt. 3:17 Matt 19:19 Mark 12:31 Rom. 5:5
I Cor. 13:1-13 Ga. 5:13 Eph 2:4 I John 3:1
