Hilltop Highlights
- LWML Pastoral Counselors, Rev. Carl Gnewuch and Rev. Mike Mattil, led the Sunday morning worship service. Pastor Gnewuch presented a message entitled ‘Alive and Alove’, in which he commented that Lutheran Women in Mission are the most mission minded people alove! ‘Alove’ Alove means you worship Jesus even when life is a mess; you let nothing stand between your friends and Jesus; you are willing to widen your heart; and it is the state of being loved.
- Jan Struck, humorist interrupter, encouraged attendees to continue to look to their Mountain, the Lord, as they return home. Our link to the Lord is prayer. A simple acronym to use when we pray is ACTS: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication.
- Newly elected Executive Committee members were installed and outgoing members were honored for their service.
- The fourth convention offering, benefitting the LWML Endowment, was taken.
- Gifts from the Heart were dedicated. Among the gifts were:
- 308 Health Kits
- 194 Art Kits
- 697 Packages of Socks (5-10 pair/pkg)
- 308 Teddy Bears
- 421 Packages of T-shirts (1-5/pkg)
- 1,776 Miscellaneous Items
These items will be distributed in the Portland area.
- Final Credentials Report: Voting: 601; Non-Voting: 2,709 for a total of 3,310 convention attendees.
- Vicar David Sternbeck, from Makah Lutheran Church, Neah Bay, Washington gave a Mites in Action presentation, highlighting mission work being done among the Makah people.
- Dina Vendetti, convention song leader, Jan Struck, the LWML Executive Committee, and Appointed Committees and Personnel were introduced and recognized for their service.
- 69 Young Women Representatives from 48 LWML districts were recognized.
- 31 Heart to Heart Sisters were recognized, marking the 100th Heart to Heart Sister over the past four conventions.
- LWML President Janice Wendorf introduced her family to attendees and thanked them for their support during her presidency.
