LWML eNews Issue #171 – December 4, 2015
If you received a postcard in the mail, saw and shared Facebook and Twitter posts, made a donation, and checked out the updates online to see how much we raised in one day, you were part of LWML’s very first Giving Tuesday.
LWML encouraged donations online throughout the day on Giving Tuesday, December 1. On this one day of social media donations, LWML received $7,140.00. Thank you to all who were part of this effort.
In 2017, LWML will celebrate 75 years of serving the Lord with gladness. A special committee was appointed and met in St. Louis in November to create and outline plans for the year.
The committee members are:
Edie Norris, chairman; past LWML Presidents Betty Duda, Ida Mall, Gloria Edwards, Virginia Von Seggern, Linda Reiser, Janice Wendorf, Kay Kreklau; Kristy Carter; Amy Gill; Carolyn Blum; Caroline Honeycutt, Archivist-Historian; Rev. Robert Mundahl, Pastoral Counselor; and LWML President Patti Ross.
A 75th Anniversary logo, designed by graphic artist Amy Gill, was unveiled during the meeting. This beautiful logo will be featured on several products during the next two years to commemorate this special milestone.
The LWML 75th Anniversary logo represents the many facets of the LWML, which includes the faces of women throughout the ages that have been placed together to reflect the Light of Christ to the world. Celebrating 75 years and going strong, we thank God, our Rock and our Salvation.
Chairman Edie Norris said, “The committee has begun plans to mark the wonderful milestone of the LWML's 75 years of rich history. Reflecting on the work of the women who have joyfully served through the years, we will celebrate the many blessings God has provided for the LWML to share His Word around the world yesterday, today, and as He wills, into the future. We hope everyone will join the gala celebration at the 2017 LWML Convention in
Salt Lake City Albuquerque (updated March 2016)."
December Mission Grant Resources
Each month one grant is featured on the LWML website with a Mission Power Poster, Devotion, Bulletin Bytes, Prayer Guide, and Story. December features Mission Grant #4 JEM Seminary Buildings. This $120,000 grant will provide funding to renovate the buildings of Jonathan Ekong Memorial (JEM) Seminary in Nigeria. The buildings, built in the 1940s, are in need of many needed updates to remain safe and serviceable.
