LWML > Resources > Leader Development Leader Development...Developing LeadersFrom the LWML Leader Development Committee ...At a recent “Get Motivated!” Business Seminar attendees listened to nationally acclaimed leaders and inspirational speakers share their insights about a variety of topics: communication, management skills, customer service, team building, organization, people skills, time management and goal achievement. While each speaker had a unique area of expertise, certain characteristics or principles unified many of their presentations. They were very similar to the ones found in the LWML resource Look of a Leader: Vision, Integrity, Passion, Humility, Good Spiritual Life, Courage and Commitment. At the LWML Convention in Peoria those in attendance will have the opportunity to share the leadership characteristic they identify as their strength when they stop by the Leader Development booth. However, you do not have to wait to download your own copy of Look of a Leader! (If you already have this resource, think of someone else who might benefit and pass it along.) General H. Norman Schwarzkopf points to the significance of character: “Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character. But if you must be without one, be without strategy.” John C. Maxwell further comments, “Character and leadership credibility always go hand in hand ... Character makes trust possible. And trust makes leadership possible.”

ABOUT USWelcome to our link on the LWML website. We are a committee who seeks to Follow The Leader, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We serve with confidence knowing He will lead and guide us as we read in Psalm 25:5a NIV: “Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are my God and Savior.” Our committee's objective this biennium is: Women are aware of available user-friendly resources through LWML and able to easily access them to support their leadership development and mentoring relationships. What are you doing to help LWML women become more competent and comfortable in their leadership roles? How have you helped a young woman grow and mature in the LWML as a potential leader? God’s blessings to you as we work together for further His kingdom. We’d Love to Hear From You! Please let us know if we can assist you in any way. If you have specific topics you would like to see researched and addressed we would love to hear from you, too. Please contact depsr@lwml.org and put Leader Development in the subject line so the message can be forwarded to us. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are my God and Savior. Psalm 25:5a |
