The mission
of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League
is to assist each woman
of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod
in affirming her relationship with the Triune God
so that she is enabled to use her gifts
in ministry to the people of the world.

PRIMARY TARGETS
and ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS

Growing in the Lord - Through intentional study of the Word, women of today find guidance for their lives and are encouraged in their personal daily walk with the Lord.

Embracing Our Diversity - The body of Christ grows and is strengthened when sisters of every age, class, culture, and ethnic group are sought out to participate actively in the mission of LWML.

Sharing the Heart and Identity of LWML - LWML enables and equips its members and advocates to share with others the vision and direction of LWML as it emphasizes mission outreach locally and globally.

• Executive Committee – The purpose of the Executive Committee is to focus the vision of the organization and energize its membership to carry out the mission statement.

• Nominating Committee – The purpose of the Nominating Committee is to seek out qualified, gifted members to be candidates for elected positions.

• Meeting Manager – The purpose of the meeting manager is to seek out and arrange for quality services to meet the personal and meeting needs of the LWML.

• Planner – The purpose of the planner is to be responsible for focusing the vision of the organization through the use of a planning process.

• Public Relations Director – The purpose of the public relations director is to interact with synodical entities, other extensions of the church and the world at large, informing them of the mission and ministry of the LWML, developing partner relationships, and influencing perceptions and attitudes toward Lutheran Women in Mission.

• Archivist-Historian – The purpose of the archivist-historian is to gather, receive and preserve records and other materials of historical significance to the LWML.

• Parliamentarian – The purpose of the parliamentarian is to serve as adviser on parliamentary procedure to the president, officers and members upon request.

PURPOSE STATEMENTS

CHRISTIAN LIFE DEPARTMENT

• Christian Life Committee – The purpose of the Christian Life Committee is to:
  • provide materials for spiritual growth that enables women to find guidance and encouragement in their walk with the Lord.
• Christian Resources Editors Committee – The purpose of the Christian Resources Editors Committee is to:
  • review current program helps;
  • solicit authors to produce additional program helps; and
  • produce a 2-year meeting planner.
• Mustard Seeds Task Force – The purpose of the Mustard Seeds Task Force is to:
  • develop and produce additional Mustard Seed packets.

COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT

• Information Technology Committee – The purpose of the Information Technology Committee is to:
  • encourage the use of the Web site;
  • update and maintain the Web site; and
  • assist with technical support & education.
• Official Publication Staff – The purpose of the Official Publication Staff is to produce the Lutheran Woman's Quarterly to:
  • inform women of LWML activities;
  • provide topics for study and discussion; and
  • promote the mission of LWML.
  Graphics Team - The purpose of the Graphics Team is to:
  • provide graphic arts support for products and
  • promote professional look of organization.

GOSPEL OUTREACH DEPARTMENT

• Gospel Outreach Committee – The purpose of the Gospel Outreach Committee is to:
  • inspire and equip women to share their faith in Jesus Christ, their loving Savior, with people of their communities and the world.
• Mission Grants Committee – The purpose of the Mission Grants Committee is to:
  • review and select mission grant proposals that will appear on the Mission Grants Ballot and
  • to inform, encourage and motivate women to support mission grant recipients.
• Heart to Heart Task Force - The purpose of the Heart to Heart Task Force is to:
  • motivate, equip, and ensure opportunities for women of diverse ethnic groups to serve the church and witness to the world.

HUMAN CARE DEPARTMENT

• Human Care Committee – The purpose of the Human Care Committee is to:
  • provide resources to assist women in caring for the hurting and those in need by sharing their love and the Gospel of Christ; and
  • coordinate Gifts from the Heart ingatherings for the national convention and for national meetings.
• Friends Into Serving Him® Task Force - The purpose of the Friends Into Serving Him® Task Force is to:
  • develop resources for teen and pre-teen girls supporting their involvement in the mission of the LWML; and
  • work with districts to encourage, educate, and support teen leaders and groups.
• Young Woman Representatives (YWR) Task Force - The purpose of the Young Woman Representatives (YWR) Task Force is to:
• develop resources for young women supporting their involvement in the mission of the LWML on the district and national levels and to produce the YWR program for the national convention.

SERVANT RESOURCES DEPARTMENT

• Leader Development Committee – The purpose of the Leader Development Committee is to:
  • support and encourage present and future leaders.
• Structure Committee – The purpose of the Structure Committee is to:
  • keep the Bylaws and related resources flexible while maintaining the legal status of the organization.
• Mission-Ministry Vision Consultant Task Force - The purpose of the Mission-Ministry Vision Task Force is to:
  • establish guidelines for consultants;
  • format possible training events (classroom, webinars, etc.);
  • outline a curriculum for training of existing consultants and a new class of consultants;
  • identify possible candidates for a trainer or training team; and
  • explore methods of funding training and ongoing operations.

• Marketing Team - The purpose of the Marketing Team is to:
  • provide support through intentional promotion of the organization connecting the programs, productts, and services to the target audiences.
