March: Year 1

A printable PDF of these instructions can be found at the end of this article.

Leader instructions

The end of the national LWML biennium arrives on March 31. (The end of each even year is the district biennium and the end of the national LWML biennium is in the odd years.) Now is the time to encourage each other to help meet the mission goal early in this month by donating Mite Box offerings to be sent in prior to the deadline ending the current biennium. Invite your Mailbox Members to use this devotion as they prayerfully add donations to their Mite Box.

Access the devotion Proclaiming the Gospel with Mites.

If your Mailbox Members are unable to attend church, make arrangements to pick up their Mite Box offerings so their gifts may be included in the donations received this month.

For Paper Copies:
  • Download and print this month’s resource (in bold above) to share with each Mailbox Member.
  • Print as many copies of the resource as you need for your Mailbox Member participants.
  • Don’t forget to sign the message and leave your contact information!

Hello from LWML!

March ends the fiscal year for both our LWML district (even years) and national LWML (odd years). Gathering our Mite Box offerings is one way all of us can participate in the mission of LWML by funding the programs, ministries, and mission grants which help to spread the Gospel at home and abroad. This month’s devotion, Proclaiming the Gospel with Mites, may be read during your personal devotion time as you lift up the work of the LWML in prayer and financially support missions through your Mite Box.

If you are unable to turn in your Mite Box offerings this month, please let me know and I will make arrangements to have it picked up and included in the donations that will be submitted before the end of March.

Please join me as together we pray for the mite offerings and the mission grants they support. To God be the glory!

Your Sister in Christ,

Hello from LWML!

One of the first signs of spring for those living in a four-season region is the greening of the lawn. That spot of green can be a fresh reminder of God’s continuing care for each of us. Just as a shepherd cares for his sheep, so does our Good Shepherd care for each one of us. Enjoy this devotion, A Spot of Green, as a reminder of God’s care. Then plant the seeds and watch them grow!

As always, contact me with any questions. You are in my daily prayers.

Your Sister in Christ,

May is a month filled with celebrations that highlight milestones in the lives of our youth and young adults. The Spring 2019 issue of the Lutheran Woman’s Quarterly magazine devoted an entire issue to telling the stories of young women in mission.

Enjoy this article that shares the stories of these enthusiastic sisters in Christ from around the country. Encourage the young people in your life by uplifting them in prayer as they accomplish milestones and step forward into their future.

June: Year 1

June is a traditional month for weddings, but we, in LWML, tend to associate this month with conventions! One of the joys of being an LWML participant is reading and understanding the LWML pledge. The words in the pledge bring to mind the real purpose, emotion, and reason why so many women are committed to serve together in the LWML.

Access the devotion LWML Pledge: Responsive Reading.

Hello from LWML!

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League has a 75-year history and part of that history is the LWML Pledge which reminds us of our reasons for being in mission and our pledge of commitment to our Lord.

Use the LWML Pledge Responsive Reading in your devotion time, either by yourself or with others, to reaffirm your personal commitment to share the Gospel message.

As always, contact me with any questions. You are in my daily prayers.

July: Year 1

A printable PDF of these instructions can be found at the end of this article.

Leader instructions

The middle of summer with its unusually hot, sultry days usually does not include many, if any, LWML events. So we will pass along the Gospel message to others in different ways. LWML Mustard Seed Devotions are sized for convenience so you can keep them in your purse, car, desk, or even your suitcase when you are travelling. Perhaps the women of your congregation have never seen or used these wonderful short scripture-focused devotions.

Access the Mustard Seed devotion God Knows Me and distribute it to your Mailbox Members.

If you have a set of Mustard Seed Devotions, consider gifting your Mailbox Members with a single copy of one of the devotions. You can shop for sets of Mustard Seed Devotions on the LWML website.

For Paper Copies:
  • Download and print this month’s resource (in bold above) to share with each Mailbox Member.
  • Print as many copies of the resource as you need for your Mailbox Member participants.
  • Don’t forget to sign the message and leave your contact information!
  • As you place this information in your Mailbox Member participant’s mailbox, pray for this child of God!
For Electronic Communication:
  • Open this month’s resource idea and read the coordinator information.
  • Get ready to send a new email, and in the subject line write: LWML Mailbox Member Greetings
  • Copy and paste the Mailbox Member message on the next page into your email.
  • Attach the resource(s) for the month.

Distribute the Mustard Seed devotion to your Mailbox Member participants with the following Mailbox Member Message:

Hello from LWML!

Even in the warm summer months, we can use every opportunity God gives us to share the Gospel message with others. Maybe you are sitting on a park bench watching your children or grandchildren play or sipping sweet tea from the comfort of your front porch. Having a packet of Mustard Seed Devotions in your bag or purse can open an opportunity to share about your faith wherever you are.

“God Knows You,” like this month’s devotion states, “and He calls you — and me — to share that love with everyone we know.” Read this month’s devotion and share it with someone else — a friend, family member, restaurant server, or tuck it in a letter to a friend far away.

Thank you for being a part of our Mailbox Member program and as always, contact me with any questions. You are in my daily prayers.

Your Sister in Christ,

Encourage your Mailbox Members to pray especially for our children and young adults as they enter a new phase of life.

Hello from LWML!

Every year a new group of young adults moves away from home to join the military, attend college or trade school, or enter the workforce. It’s a challenging time for parents as they learn to let go and encourage independence. Read the devotion Remembering Whose We Are and pray for our children, youth, and young adults as they move into a new phase of life.

As always, contact me with any questions. You are in my daily prayers.

Your Sister in Christ,
