For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same
function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of
another (Romans 12:4β5).
The Special Ministries Committee encourages all women to participate in LWML by
supporting ministries that reach out to various people with disabilities.
The 41st Biennial LWML Convention brought two speakers who shared resources for
reaching out to these communities. Rachel Potts, Lutheran Braille Workers, shared that when
a blind child could read Jesus after learning Braille it was like Jesus entered his fingers,
moved up his arm, and settled in his heart. What a vision! Rev. Dr. John Reinke spoke
enthusiastically about sharing Jesus with the deaf and hard of hearing. Itβs hard to hear that
only 1% of this group know Jesus. Yet LWML Mission Grants have provided funding to
develop numerous resources which continue to share the message of salvation through
Jesus around the world.
