LWML New Jersey District Met in Convention, August 5–7, 2016

LWML New Jersey District President Arlene Price led her first convention under the theme “Keep Calm and Soldier On.” Over 65 men and women joined together in Morristown, New Jersey. Convention highlights included Bible study led by Donna Pyle, Dr. Kristin Schmaltz as a mission speaker sharing her experiences as a doctor in Guinea, West Africa, and Jan Struck as a luncheon speaker and humorous interrupter during convention sessions. Pastors in attendance were recognized during an appreciation dinner with a special coin and words of encouragement.

Music is often a highlight at LWML conventions. The 2017 LWML Convention in Albuquerque will be no exception. Wendysue Fluegge will be the convention song leader. With a combination of contemporary originals and traditional hymns and classics, Wendysue says, “God gave me a gift of music that I want to use to glorify Him and bless others.”

Mariachi San Pablo from Ysleta Lutheran Mission in El Paso, Texas will add a southwestern flavor to the music of the convention. With a wonderful blend of traditional mariachi music and classic hymns, they strive to reach listeners through Christian music, in both Spanish and English, thereby sharing the Gospel message with those who hear their music.
