Interdepartmental Meeting Set

From October 23 to October 26, the newly appointed Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) committee chairmen and committee members will meet in St. Louis to plan for the 2019–2021 biennium. The theme of the gathering is “Inspired to Share HIS Story.” It is based on 2 Timothy 3:16–17, All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Together with the LWML Board of Directors, these women will discuss how to encourage the sharing of God’s Story by using and developing resources and programs of the LWML.

Please pray for these women and counselors as they meet, study God’s Word, plan, and travel to and from St. Louis. May God bless these servant leaders as they are inspired to share HIS story with everyone they encounter.

Pastoral Counselor Nominations Due

The 2021 Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) convention is less than two years away, and preparations have begun. One of the first things to be done is the selection of Pastoral Counselor nominees for the convention ballot.

Nominations for Pastoral Counselor need to be submitted by district presidents to the Nominating Committee by October 31 in the odd numbered years (this year). Think about all those pastors you know. Pray about it and contact your LWML District President, who has all the qualification details, if you would like to suggest a pastoral counselor nomination.

Church Workers Committee

nullThe Church Workers in Mission Committee, chaired by Christie Steffens with members Molly Dixon and DCE Kristina Parker, will work to intentionally identify opportunities to connect with LCMS church workers, helping them to learn about the mission of the LWML and how they can be involved and supported. They will also develop strategies for LWML districts to identify and connect with new and current church workers in their districts. Through this process, they will work to cultivate an awareness of LWML resources that can be useful to all church workers.

“For many years the LWML has connected with our seminary students, enlightening them about the mission and vision of the LWML. Our hope is that this committee can expand upon that foundation to connect with all church workers, show our support of their ministry, and encourage them to assist and support LWML groups in their local area,” stated Deaconess Betty Knapp, Vice President of Special Focus Ministries. Getting Around When You No Longer Drive

Do you know someone who no longer drives or may be unable to in the future? Alternative transportation services vary widely by community. The services available will depend on where you live. Our Gifts of Love team has a helpful article under the Giving tab on the website. Read the Savvy Living article here.

Another Opportunity to Support our Seminaries

The LWML supports our seminaries with local, district, and national grants. Prayer warriors include the students and faculty in their daily prayers. As our LCMS seminaries share news and upcoming events with LWML, we are happy to pass that information along to the women and men who support and pray for them. One such event is the Inaugural Give Green and Gold Day at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

Lutheran Women in Mission — The Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) is the official women's auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Since 1942, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman's relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries, and to support global missions.

The LWML is the leading group for LCMS women where each woman is welcomed and encouraged to use her unique God-given gifts as she supports global missions and serves the Lord with gladness.
