Easter parades have their beginnings with the first Palm Sunday and Good Friday. Walks were held by early Christians to commemorate Jesus’ arrival into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and His walk to the cross on Good Friday. During the Dark Ages, early Christians held these solemn processions to demonstrate their unity in faith and to reach out to non-believers. Even back in these times, participants wore their finest clothes to show their respect to Jesus. … Today, we have the privilege of hosting a resurrection parade with special Easter bonnets.

The season of Advent is a little like a treasure hunt. We have the same anticipation in our hearts as we prepare for the coming of Christ. As children we looked forward to opening presents on Christmas. But now we look forward to Christ’s return and our heavenly reward of eternal life through Him. Life is much different that a child’s game and it is easy to get distracted – to quit searching for our treasure. That is why the season of Advent is a great time to focus our hearts on Christ.
Today I thought it would be fun to go on a different type of treasure hunt. It is a Biblical treasure hunt. Each of you received a little gold bag that contains the clues and a Bible which holds our “treasure.” Let’s go through them now, beginning with the gold bag itself.
