LWML Nominating Committee Meets
Please pray for our Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Nominating Committee as they meet this week in Nebraska to consider and select the nominees that will be on the ballot at the 39th Biennial LWML Convention in Lexington, Kentucky. The nominating committee is selecting nominees for:
- Vice President of Christian Life
- Vice President of Gospel Outreach
- Vice President of Communication
- Recording Secretary
- Nominating Committee (5 positions)
Heavenly Father, we ask You to send Your Holy Spirit to guide the nominating committee members as they meet together to select the nominees for these positions. We ask You to grant them wisdom and discernment as they consider these qualified and willing LWML servants. Keep them safe in their travel and in their encounters with others. Hear our prayer in the name of Your Holy Son. Amen.
First Virtual Interdepartmental Meeting Held
October is the month when the hardworking LWML committees would normally gather together for an interdepartmental (ID) meeting in St. Louis, Missouri. On Saturday, October 3, 2020, 51 committee members and chairmen, LWML Convention Chairman Shelley Moeller, and the LWML Board of Directors gathered virtually to discuss plans, ideas, and projects for the second half of the biennium. Also on the agenda was preparation for the 2021 LWML Lexington Convention. During the next three weeks, committees will meet virtually to discuss and complete their plans through a series of large and small group Zoom meetings. They will conclude the series on October 23 when they hold a final virtual meeting to share their ideas and pray that in-person meetings may resume soon and the 2021 LWML Convention will find us together in Lexington, “Running the Race … Looking to Jesus.” Please keep the committees in your prayers.
LWML Mission Grant Proposals for 2021
By the end of September, over 65 LWML mission grant proposals had been submitted to the Gospel Outreach Department. The Mission Grant Selection Committee will meet in January 2021, to consider the proposals for the mission grants ballot at the LWML 2021 Lexington Convention. Please keep the review and selection process, as well as our current and proposed mission grants, in your prayers.
October Mission Service Activity Available
The Gospel Outreach Committee has posted the October Mission Service Activity, which includes a new resource: a PDF of Encouraging Bible Verses to cut apart and insert into note cards, attach to mission service projects, add to your journals, or to place around your home or office. They would be an eye-catching way to share His Gospel story! Both the activity and the new resource can be found here.
New Livestream Bible Study Begins on October 6
LWML’s second Facebook Live Bible study titled “Your Strong Suit” by Donna Snow begins October 6 at 8 p.m. Central Daylight Time. A free listening guide can be found at Your Strong Suit or the complete study guide is available from the LWML Store. Join your friends at https://www.facebook.com/TheLWML each Tuesday night for this wonderful Bible study opportunity.
Pastor Appreciation Month
October is traditionally known as “Pastor Appreciation Month.” To give you some fresh ideas of how to appreciate and support your pastor and other commissioned church workers, you can find ideas and resources here and download Pastor Appreciation cards here that you might like to use to show your love and support for your pastor or church staff. Above all, remember your pastor and other church staff in your prayers, asking for God’s wisdom, protection, and encouragement to be upon them as they serve.
