November’s Featured Committee — LWML Christian Life Committee

At the beginning of each biennium, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Board of Directors selects women to serve on the various departmental committees and task forces. Beginning this month, the eNews will feature one LWML committee, providing an overview of what they do and what they have planned for the next two years.

The 2021–2023 Christian Life Committee’s purpose statement reads: Equip women with Christ-focused resources to encourage and grow their faith through the power of the Holy Spirit. Their goal is to offer an assortment of Scripture-based resources in a variety of formats. We all communicate and learn differently, and the committee plans to offer resources that foster faith for everyone.

The LWML Christian Life Committee consists of three members Rebecca Bessell, Chairman, Cheryl Mattil, and Molly Dixon. They look forward to connecting with authors to develop new devotions, Bible studies, and retreats. There will be a new DVD Bible study written by Donna Snow coming soon, as well as more coloring pages. Another new item to be on the lookout for is a packet of “Peace Cards.” These business card-sized items will be the perfect size for your wallet. Enjoy reading and sharing them. The committee chose a Bible verse to guide their work — Apply your heart to instruction and your ear to words of knowledge (Proverbs 23:12).

The rain in North Dakota did not dampen the spirits of the staff at the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch when LWML North Dakota District President LaurieAnn Totenhagen arrived to present the check for LWML’s 2021-2023 Mission Grant No. 1— Deaconess Ministry Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch — in the amount of $81,680. The Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch staff were honored to have their grant selected by the LWML at Lexington. This grant directly supports the spiritual care Deaconess Kelly Bristol provides to the girls at the Ranch. For more information about the mission work at the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch click here. The photo was taken in the chapel at the Ranch.

LWML 1942–2022 — What’s Your 80?

balloons in the shape of the number 80

In thanksgiving for 80 years of serving, growing in faith, and mission giving, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League invites each member, local group, zone, or district to reflect God’s love by blessing others with 80 something. An idea might be a local group bringing 80 cans of food to a food pantry. Or, for a district, $80 or an $800 extra donation to mite offerings. Get creative and have fun. Be sure to take a picture of your activities. LWML will plan to show a montage of submitted “80 something” ideas and projects at the 2023 LWML Convention to be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) — Lutheran Women in Mission — is an official auxiliary of  The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Since 1942, Lutheran Women in Mission have joyfully proclaimed Christ, supported missions, and equipped women to honor God by serving others
