On Sunday, February 2, 2020, LWML Rocky Mountain District President Debbie Yocky and her husband, David, traveled to El Paso, Texas to present a check for $98,400 to Ysleta Lutheran Mission for music outreach, classes, and resources. The funds will be used to renovate existing space for a recording studio and a practice area, as well as for purchasing musical instruments and providing lessons for students. This ministry touches the lives of 400–500 students on the border. Music Director Miguel Muñoz came to know Christ during his involvement with music classes and the Mariachi San Pablo Band. This check for LWML Mission Grant #20 was joyfully celebrated with a worship service at Zion Lutheran Church, led by Mariachi San Pablo. For more information on this grant, click here.

The excitement is building for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League’s (LWML) upcoming convention in Lexington, Kentucky, June 24-27, 2021! The theme is “Running the Race … Looking to Jesus,” based on the Scripture verse:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2).

The goal is: “Looking to Jesus, we run the race set before us and proclaim the joy of the Lord.” Mark your calendars and make plans to come to the rolling hills of bluegrass country. Watch for updates and more information here.
