Kristen O’Shea Talks about LWML on KFUO

Kristen Brunkow O’Shea, member of the LWML Committee on Young Women, spoke with host Rev. Marcus Zill on KFUO’s broadcast of The Student Union on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. She shared how she transitioned from LCMSU, the Missouri Synod’s campus ministry, to the LWML. LCMSU provides a place where college students can find a piece of home and fellowship with their peers in Christ while away at college, and Kristen shares how she now finds that fellowship with sisters in Christ through LWML. Kristen tells of her journey becoming part of Lutheran Women in Mission and encourages other young women to get involved. Her enthusiasm about LWML activities and resources will encourage college students to learn more about the LWML! Listen to the entire interview here.

God's Grace for This Generation

LWML grant monies to LAMP (Lutheran Association of Missionary Pilots) Ministry, Inc., for its cross-cultural ministry in remote areas of northern Canada, were received in December 2019. What a blessing!

LAMP’s volunteer missionary of 18 years, Pam Heiden, shares one illustration of how the love of Jesus is being shared in the North.

“On the last day of our Vacation Bible School (VBS), we were informed that Sophia’s * (name changed) 20-year-old son was missing in the lake. We immediately went to the lake. Our friend asked me to pray, so we formed a circle and prayed for results with all who were waiting. Word was received the day after our departure from the community that their son was found. God opened the door of peace for Sophia and her family.”

Staff missionary, Pastor Randy Heide, is transitioning into his new role with LAMP alongside Pastor Dennis Ouellette, who retired in February of 2020. Time was spent handing the mantle over as Pastor Heide was introduced to both the communities he will serve and the volunteer-sending congregations that will serve alongside him. Pastors Heide and Ouellette also prepared for the upcoming VBS’s by visiting local Christians and key leaders in some of the remote Ontario communities together.

LAMP’s staff and volunteer missionaries truly appreciate the prayers and financial support of the LWML who, led by the Spirit, have generously given to impact lives with the love of Christ.

Lutheran Women in Mission — The Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) is an official auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Since 1942, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman's relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries, and to support global missions.

The LWML is the leading group for LCMS women where each woman is welcomed and encouraged to use her unique God-given gifts as she supports global missions and serves the Lord with gladness.
