Looking to Jesus and Lexington!

undefined

Why do you come to Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) conventions? Is it for the fellowship, mission speakers, worshipping with thousands of Lutherans, singing, or Bible study? Or is it something else? We all have our favorite things happening at our LWML conventions. There are early morning Bible studies, time to visit with mission organizations, and of course, a mission pledge walk!

Planning continues for the 39th Biennial LWML Convention in Lexington. If you haven’t been to a national LWML convention, you’re in for an experience you’ll never forget. Mark your calendar for June 24–27, 2021.

Support LWML While Shopping

The AmazonSmile program continues to be a blessing to the LWML. Amazon has donated $1,799.16 to LWML this biennium, with a total of $5,334.24 since LWML began participating in the program. Choose LWML as your charity and, when you shop using AmazonSmile, 0.5% of the sale price of eligible products are donated to the LWML. These dollars are sent to LWML quarterly, with all funds supporting mission grants.

There are no fees or extra costs to sign up or to purchase items through AmazonSmile. It’s easy to sign up: visit https://smile.amazon.com, sign in with your Amazon.com credentials, and choose the “Lutheran Women's Missionary League” in Saint Louis, Missouri. Then, start shopping! Bookmark the site, making it easy to shop again.

Or use the Amazon Shopping app. After you’ve signed up for AmazonSmile in your web browser, download or update the latest version of the Amazon Shopping app for IOS or Android. Open the app, go to “Settings” in the main menu, then tap “AmazonSmile” and follow the instructions.

With the holidays fast approaching, why not make a difference by signing up so more dollars will go to LWML mission grants? With your help, we can fund this biennium’s remaining mission grants and spread the Gospel to the lost and the hurting. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Growth and Development Committee Tips

nullCommittee Members: Lisa Asmus; Joy Anderson, Chair; and Brenda Piester.

Over the last several months, all of us have learned to be creative in how we work, worship, and school our children. Now it’s time to be inventive as we connect with our LWML sisters in the Word and by how we serve others and collect our mite offerings. The Growth and Development Committee has a list of tips and ideas to help you and your group stay connected and serve the Lord with gladness. Check out the Group Resources webpage and be sure to share the ways your group has been connecting during COVID-19. Email your tips, ideas, and pictures to us at depor@lwml.org.

November Eucharisteo Project

undefined

During the days leading up to Thanksgiving, consider setting aside time each day for reflection and “Eucharisteo,” a Greek word meaning “giving thanks.” To help you focus, you’re invited to participate in the LWML Scripture Reading Plan as we give thanks to God.

Or take it a step further. Select a verse (or portions of verses) from the day’s reading and write it on an index card, on a note pad, or in a journal. The discipline of writing Scripture engages our heads, hands, and hearts. It slows us down to allow the Word to sink in, and it also provides a tangible reminder which we can keep at our fingertips, display in our homes, or share with our family and friends. The November Scripture Reading Plan began on November 1 and will end November 26. See all the available resources here.

Lutheran Women in Mission — The Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) is an official auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Since 1942, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman's relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries, and to support global missions.

The LWML is the leading group for LCMS women where each woman is welcomed and encouraged to use her unique God-given gifts as she supports global missions and serves the Lord with gladness.
