Devotion on God's love, Relationship with God, John 3:16–17. 1 page.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him" (John 3:16–17).

When it gets close to February, Valentine’s Day decorations appear in many stores. A common sight is messages on candy hearts. … What messages might we see if God were writing on candy hearts?

What Am I Worth?

Devotion on Relationship with God, Matthew 10:28–31. 2 pages.

“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows” (Matthew 10:28–31).

A short devotion about Matthew 10:28–31, exploring our perception of sparrows and emphasizing God's love and care for each of us.

His Christmas Presence

Devotion on Christmas, Exodus 40:34. 2 pages.

Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle (Exodus 40:34).

On Christmas Day, many churches will read the Christmas story from one of the Gospels as well as a section of the book of Exodus. On the surface, it sounds like an odd pairing. This devotion explores why this portion of Exodus is often chosen as the Old Testament reading for Christmas.

Light of the World, Salt of the Earth

Devotion on Witnessing, Mission Outreach, Matthew 5:14–16. 2 pages. Available in both English and Spanish.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven (Matthew 5:14–16).

I will never leave you nor forsake you (Joshua 1:5b).

Though we understand that God is with us every moment of our lives, we, as humans, tend to need support, comfort, and encouragement. The hymn, "Abide with Me," reminds us that there will be challenges and obstacles throughout our life, but Jesus has overcome them all and is always with us!

Seasons

Devotion on Seasons of Life, Ecclesiastes 3:1–8. 2 pages.

Maple leaves through the seasons, laying on a table

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace (Ecclesiastes 3:1–8).

Our seasons of life can be much like the seasons of the year. We may have seasons of darkness where it feels as though God is far away and unconnected from what we are going through. These hard seasons may include the loss of a loved one, health challenges, changes in a career, or other things that make life in this world hard.
