LWML Past Presidents will be at their convention booth in the Bluegrass Meadows Exhibit Hall on Thursday throughout the day; on Friday from 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m.; and especially on Friday night for the Winner’s Circle Celebration. You can share memories and take a photo with them! They will be available to sign the book Dedicated! Lutheran Women Grounded in the Word; Growing in God’s Mission, a detailed history of the LWML. Y’all come to the Winner’s Circle Celebration!

The Bluegrass Meadows Exhibit Hall will be open for you during the convention to visit the numerous exhibits, talk to friends, and connect with wonderful people. Each LWML committee has a special activity planned for you. Meet our LWML mission speakers. Visit with the representatives of many LCMS Recognized Service Organizations. Wear your fascinator or your fancy hat (preferably purple) and join the celebration. What could be better than a celebration with 3,000 of your closest friends, your family in Christ, on a Friday evening?

Photos Due for Virtual Photo Finish Mission Walk

If you are unable to attend the convention but would like to be a part of the Mission Walk, you are invited to join in virtually. Take your walk anywhere — around your neighborhood, your church, or in a park. Share a photo of your walk, and send in your mission dollars. On the “News & Events” tab on the LWML website, click on “Convention Central” to find the link to the “Virtual Photo Finish Mission Walk Submission Form.” Your photo may be shown on screen at the 2021 LWML Convention in Lexington, Kentucky. The deadline for submission of the photo is June 4, so hurry! Pledges received by this date will be added to the Photo Finish Mission Walk amount announced at the convention. All photos submitted by June 30, 2021, will be part of the virtual Photo Finish Mission Walk video which will be available on the website in the fall. All donations will support LWML Mission Grants for the 2021–2023 biennium.

Volunteers Wanted for Mission Flag Procession

Are you heading to Lexington for the LWML Convention? Want to be a part of a very special procession?

One of the highlights of our time together is the Mission Flag Procession that takes place at the beginning of the session on Saturday morning, June 26. The 82 flags in the procession represent countries in which the Gospel has been preached, many of which the LWML has supported with mission grants throughout our 79 years of funding grants.

If you are attending the convention, we invite you to participate in the procession by carrying a flag or name placard in this meaningful event.

Please complete this form to indicate your willingness to participate in the Saturday morning Mission Flag Procession. The form gives you an option to request a specific country flag/placard that you might wish to carry because you have strong connections to that particular country. We will try to accommodate these requests as best we can. If you have no preference, please indicate “no preference” on the form. (A list of countries whose flags will be carried in the procession can be found here.

If you have ethnic clothing that you would like to wear in the procession, we welcome it. In the past, the beautiful clothing has helped to add to the colorful nature of this event.

Please submit your volunteer form by June 5, 2021.

Women at Work for the Lord

undefined

Do you ever wonder if your daily work is getting in the way of serving the Lord? Are you concerned that your creativity is more “play,” rather than a way to glorify the Lord? Do others seem to be more blessed with abilities which are obvious for furthering God’s kingdom?

This month’s featured resources from the LWML Planner address those concerns with a wonderful devotion from Past LWML President Virginia Von Seggern titled Women at Work for the Lordand the Sharing Our Gifts as We Work for the Lord Bible study and leader guide written by LWML Treasurer, Karla Koehler.

The LWML Motto is Serve the Lord with gladness! (Psalm 100:2). God gives each one of us a unique set of gifts and talents with which He has blessed us to do the work of His kingdom here on earth. As we respond to God’s mercy and forgiveness, the Holy Spirit empowers us to serve Him and others. He guides us in discovering our abilities and the direction He wants us to take no matter what season of our life. Our work for the Lord can show Jesus to others in meaningful ways, even in the little things in life.

Each month the LWML features new Bible studies, devotions, mission service projects, and mission grant resources under the program resources tab, as free downloads. You may also purchase the entire Faith Building Help for Groups planner packet in hard copy form in the LWML Store at the Lexington convention. It will also be available to purchase or download after convention.

Mailbox Member Program

undefined

Now, more than ever, your group may be seeing in-person attendance dwindle. The LWML has a program to help you intentionally reach the women of your congregation who may not be participating in established LWML group activities. The Mailbox Member Program is designed to connect women monthly to the Word through Bible studies, devotions, and service opportunities available in the LWML and in your local group.

You can adapt this program to fit your setting, so you can engage with the women who:

  • Work outside of the home and have schedules that do not allow them to attend LWML activities;
  • Are homebound or live in an assisted living or care facility;
  • Are unable to attend meetings due to their children’s schedules;
  • Are recovering from illness or an injury;
  • Are unable to attend due to distance;
  • Attend a college/university;
  • Are missionaries around the world; and
  • Want to be a Lutheran Woman in Mission!

Check out the Mailbox Member Program at lwml.org/mailbox and see how your group can offer mission education, mission inspiration, mission service, and mission support to each woman in your congregation.
