In the Word
Serve the Lord with gladness (Psalm 100:2a ESV).
Of the Word
Jesus Christ is the model of servanthood for all people. He served His Father by coming to earth to fulfill the plan of salvation. He served the world by dying on the cross and then rising again to complete the plan of salvation. While on earth, He was a servant leader, putting His followers’ needs before His own and loving them to death, even death on a cross.
Parents know that children are like sponges, absorbing everything they see and hear. Remembering that, parents model compassion, love, and forgiveness. Following Jesus’ example, they strive to meet their children’s needs, especially their spiritual needs. They show that Christian service is a joyful response to all that Jesus has done for them.
Stretch your faith-filled parenting: As a family, participate in a service project in your community.
Walking with my Lord
Serving Savior, You did not come to be served, but to serve by giving Your life for all people. Open pathways of joyous service so that my family and I may respond to Your love. In Your name. Amen.
