The purpose of the Christian Life Committee is to provide materials to engage, encourage, and equip women to grow in their Christian faith and service.

YOU ARE INVITED TO ...

Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League by joining your LWML sisters at our convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico, June 22-25, 2017. The LWML 37th Biennial Convention is less than four (4) months away so visit www.lwml.org/2017-convention for registration and special event information. See you in Albuquerque!

Celebrate the ways God has richly blessed our league for seventy-five years, and the ways He has richly blessed our individual lives through the LWML. Share memories of Mission Grants reaching all sectors of the world; share memories of laughter, travel, servant events, and display booths; share memories of joining together in worship, celebratory choral music, processional banners, and partaking in Holy Communion with thousands of worshipers. The list will never end, as we each recall special people, events and memories we treasure, and join in convention activities to make new memories.

Celebrate with other Christian women during the convention by sharing an hour of your time at the Christian Life Display Booth. Displays will be open on Thursday all day, and Friday and Saturday when convention is not in session. If you are willing to spend an hour sharing Christian Life products (example below) and coloring bookmarks with other LWML attendees, please email jenhuecker@gmail.com.

Celebrate by sharing that these new products are available

The purpose of the Christian Life Committee is to provide materials to engage, encourage, and equip women to grow in their Christian faith and service.

Experience JOY in the journey as you share LWML Bible studies and products with your districts and zones, and especially your webmaster, so that these resources may reach and benefit each society and LWML member. The easiest way to get started is to view the LWML Store.

ENGAGE:  The Christmas season is a great time of year to engage young and old in the love that is God! Available as free printable downloads on the LWML website are notecards and bookmarks ready for coloring. Check out the new Christmas selection. Plant the seeds of God's love and grace by sharing these colorful bookmarks or Mustard Seed Devotions. Put them in Christmas cards, goodie bags to be given away to nursing homes, first responders, or new church members! LWML has many great Mustard Seed topics to choose from, including large print versions. See pages 11-13 of the online catalog for these short Scripture and prayer devotions that equip us to Begin with God and engage in the Race of Faith.

ENCOURAGE:  District and Zone Christian Life Chairmen can encourage groups and individuals to lead or participate in a new Bible study. Whether women need to confront Whatever ... Life Brings, experience Living with Pain, or share a Mountaintop Journey with Jesus, LWML offers Bible studies and prayer books in print, on CD, or in downloadable formats. View pages 6-8 of the catalog for great ideas.

ENJOY:  Why not begin and enjoy the New Year with a new Bible? The new Today's Light Bible and LWML Butterfly Bible Cover will get you started right. As you make plans to attend the 75th Anniversary Convention, consider the opportunity of spending a few moments working the Christian Life booth in the display area. A call for workers with time selections will follow in February. Contact information for new District Christian Life Chairmen may be sent to jenhuecker@gmail.com

CLC Thoughts: What a privilege as Christian Life leaders to provide opportunities and ideas for sharing God's Word. We just need to offer ideas and specific information on where to find them. Begin your search for materials online at the LWML website or call CPH at 800-325-3040 to place an order.

Please make time to share the online LWML Catalog and Bible studies with your districts and zones. This is the best way to reach each society with resources! And remember all LWML resources have passed LCMS doctrinal review.

One last request: if your district has a new District President or Christian Life leader, please send her name and email address to lwml@lwml.org, so she can be added to the distribution list. Also, please forward this to anyone in your district that might find this information helpful ‚Äď including your webmaster!

Blessings as you serve Him.

The purpose of the Christian Life Committee is to provide materials to engage, encourage, and equip women to grow in their Christian faith and service.

ENGAGE:  The summer season is in full swing, but soon the fall season will begin, and Fall Zone Rallies will be a part of our schedules. These rallies provide us with the opportunity for promoting new ideas to engage all our members in Bible study. Some suggested studies can be found in the online LWML Catalog.

ENCOURAGE:  Make a display for your district board meeting and encourage each Zone Christian Life Chairman to also make a display or handout featuring pictures from the online LWML Catalog. Page 4 features the New Today’s Light Devotional Bible, #LWML012104, with a full description on the back page of the catalog. Pages 6 and 7 are full of new Bible studies, with download options. Each study offers six to eight sessions, for individual use, or especially designed for group study, on a wide variety of topics.

ENJOY:  Donna Pyle’s DVD Bible studies, Overflowing Abundance (#LWML68932, workbook #LWML68933) and Your Strong Suit (#LWML68930, workbook #LWML68931) are inspirational and enjoyable to share with every group. You may want to use one of these as a retreat or workshop. Her shorter studies described on page 7 of the catalog, (#LWML68940 - #LWML68947) are designed to be a blessing within the group setting or for individual study.

CLC CHALLENGE: Whether women are looking for studies featured on pages 8 and 9 or looking for shorter devotions from the Mustard Seed packets, pages 11, 12, and 13, it is our opportunity as Christian Life Leaders to provide ideas for sharing God’s Word. The materials are available. We just need to offer ideas and specific information on where to find them.

Please make time to share the online LWML Catalog and Bible studies with your districts and zones. This is the best way to reach each society with resources! And remember all LWML resources have passed LCMS doctrinal review.

Wrapping It Up … with THANKS!

The Christian Life Committee did a great job of connecting to district leaders with timely, relevant, and uplifting information via this newsletter. We thank Cheryl Hamil, Saron Yohannes, and Chairman, Kaye Cairns, for their dedication in producing a monthly eNewsletter.

However, I would be very remiss not to thank YOU‚ÄĒthe leaders and readers!

  • If you had not opened the linked or attached newsletter,

    • If you had not shared it,

      • If you had not responded with ideas,

        • It would have been "just another email."

We saw it attached to district newsletters. (What a great idea!)
We got ideas from district newsletters. (Sharing great ideas!)
We got your responses and continually updated the distribution list with your input.

We could not have done it without you. Thanks for partnering with us!

Stay in Touch … Keep Connecting

As we close out this biennium, it is the committee's prayer that you were able to glean some helpful information from these newsletters. One of the goals in sending these newsletters what not only to communicate with you, the districts, but to also connect with you. It was also our hope that this would give you a tool to connect with the zones and societies in your district.

One last thought as you look forward to a new biennium and get ready for not only the national convention, but next year's district conventions ‚Äź keep connecting. Use the tools and resources LWML has to offer ‚Äź but don't forget to connect. At your local, zone, regional, and district events, remember that there is always someone there needing that extra touch, extra word of kindness or encouragement ‚Äź or just ... ‚ÄúHello, welcome.‚ÄĚ

It is our hope that we will see many of you at the convention in Des Moines, but if not, we still look forward to hearing from you via email.

The Time is NOW initiative encourages all to re‚Äźfocus on the basics of LWML: Word, Missions, Service, and Fellowship. This resource is available on the LWML website for use by all districts in promoting The Time is NOW initiative, as well as for personal and/or group spiritual growth.

This Bible study authored by Rev. John Heckmann entitled, Focus Lost … Focus Restored, deals with 14 biblical personalities and examples of times when they lost their focus and when their focus was restored by God. Each biblical personality could be studied in 30 to 45 minutes with discussion included. The study could be used as an ongoing lunchtime study or one or two sections as part of an LWML meeting. Each biblical personality could be studied by an individual who might desire to do one personality a day. Its uses are varied and can be easily adapted to fit the needs of an individual or group.
