In His Steps

Devotion on Christian Living, Comfort and Hope, Proverbs 16:9. 1 page.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps (Proverbs 16:9).

Many times we become stressed, frustrated, and unhappy that what we thought was going to happen or what we were going to get done is foiled. We complain, groan, and get grumpy! But as we look at Scripture, we find that we can rely on the Lord, knowing that He has a plan and a purpose for us.

I Have Loved You with an Everlasting Love

Devotion on Love, Comfort and Hope, Jeremiah 31:3. 2 pages.

… the LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you (Jer. 31:3).

God said, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” That makes all the difference in the world, knowing that God’s undeserved love was given to His people at Jeremiah’s time and is given to us day by day by day … into eternity.

I Can Do It Myself!

Devotion on Christian Living, 1 Peter 5:7. 2 pages.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you (1 Peter 5:7 New Living Translation).

From the time we are little children, we press the boundaries for greater self-reliance, quickly falling into the sin of being self-sufficient, an attribute we think is important for getting along in life. It’s a matter of pride and survival, of our sinful human nature. After all, wasn’t that what Adam and Eve were looking for? Wasn’t it really the desire to be like God, so that they would not have to rely on Him?

How To Be A New Mom Mentor

Devotion on Family Times, 1 Thessalonians 5:11a. 1 page.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up (1Thessalonians 5:11a).

Whether you yourself have experienced the call of motherhood in your life or not, you can shower affection and support on the new moms around you. God has placed them in your life so that you may mutually bless and support each other, for He is honored and glorified when we are encouraging and supportive. Like the sisters in Luke 10, there are both “Mary” ways to help a new mom and “Martha” ways.

How Mary Prepared for the First Christmas

Devotion on Advent, Luke 1. 1 page.

Many of us get stressed out during the weeks leading up to Christmas-so much to do, so little time. It doesn't have to be that way. Mary, the mother of Jesus, can be an example for our Christmas preparations.

How did Mary prepare when she learned she would have a role in the first Christmas? First Mary humbly submitted to God's plan. Then, she rejoiced as she looked forward to the first Christmas.

Housecleaning – Heart Cleaning

Devotion on Christian Living, Prayer, Discipleship, Personal Spirituality, Hymns.  2 pages.

How many of us enjoy housecleaning? Many do, but some of us wish that a magic wand could be waved and it could be done instantly! Realizing the impossibility of that happening, we must face the inevitable. Have you noticed that once you get started, housecleaning isn’t such a burden at all and that it’s a joy to see that dirt disappear?

Now let’s compare housecleaning with heart-cleaning. It’s surprising how both can be done at once. A good way to do this is to pray the wonderfully rich hymns and songs we know so well.
