Living Hope in a Graveyard

Single-session Bible study on Comfort and Hope. 6 pages. Leader Guide available.

Graveyards can be things that are scary or mysterious. For some they are superstitious, and for many they are places filled with sorrow. However, for Christians graveyards are places that speak of the hope we have in Christ and of the resurrection. They are places where our Lord meets those who sit in sorrow and fills them with living hope, and they are places where the faithful await the day of their own raising on the Last Day to the joy of life eternal.

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:56–57).

Abiding in Christ

Single-session Bible study on Relationship with God, John 15:1–4. 6 pages. Leader Guide available.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me (John 15:1–4).

Have you ever seen a lemon-lime tree or a lemon-orange tree? Grafting is where a branch from one tree is implanted into the trunk of another tree.

Like a branch, we were grafted into Jesus’ suffering and death, being united to Him. He alone became our source of love, life, and everything that is in life. And as we grow in the Word of God, He feeds us, strengthens us, and helps us bear fruit.

Family Matters — Women in Christ's Geneology

Single-session Bible study on Witness, Service. 4 pages. Leader Guide available.

Have you ever felt unsure of how God could use you to point others to Him? Maybe you are new in your faith and do not feel good enough, or you keep remembering your past sins and think you are not holy enough to be a vessel for God's mission.

The Gospel of Matthew reminds us of some women from the Old Testament. Matthew started his recording of Jesus’ life by writing a genealogy. The genealogies (lists of people in the generations leading up to Jesus) in Scripture are easy to just skim over because there are so many unrecognizable names (plus some that are just plain difficult to say out loud). It was traditional for these genealogies to list only men. However, Matthew intentionally included five women in his list.

We Await His Coming

Single-session Bible study on Advent, Christmas. 4 pages. Leader Guide available.

It seems Christmas arrives faster each year. Decorations appear in the stores and shopping malls before Halloween. The message to prepare for the “perfect holiday season” is everywhere. We spend so much time and energy decorating, planning menus, and choosing the perfect gifts for everyone and little time preparing our hearts and minds for the coming of the Christ Child. One way to keep the focus of your Christmas celebration on Christ is to observe Advent. This Bible study takes a closer look at what it means to observe Advent.
